What to wear in Florida – my year round Florida outfits for four seasons
Hello, how are you all doing? So, the other day I was thinking that Florida gets a lot of visitors throughout the year and I am sure lot of people always say to themselves “what to wear in Florida”? :). So, today I am sharing my year-round Florida outfits for four seasons that I have worn in the past and it may give some idea to you all about what to wear in Florida in different seasons. Most of these pictures are taken by my sisters or mom. For those who dont know, I moved to Florida in 2005. Hope you will enjoy this read.
For these outfits, reference city is Tampa, FL and north of Tampa will have slightly lower temperatures based on distance and south of Tampa will have higher temperatures:).
A shift dress and a Capri are actually a best year-round outfits that can have clothes added on if needed for fall and winter. You can leave your black and gray clothes back home and bring colorful light velvet to complement the winters in florida.

Spring outfits
March, April, and May
My favorite color is yellow for spring in Florida.
I will start with my favorite season in Florida, which is spring. It starts with most perfect weather in March and April with slightly cool early mornings and late nights. May is usually pretty hot during the day with nice mornings and evening. Spring is the perfect beach weather. A light cardigan or jacket is nice to have on the beach for a late evening or night walk and short cruise.
Yellow eyelet dress
I wore this yellow eyelet dress from ASOS all through March and April this year and felt little warm in May because it had some kind of silk lining. So in most of Florida, by May you are definitely in summer heat as somedays temps are high up to low 90’s.
Fabletics Lisette Capri
I happily wore this fabletics capri all through the spring starting St. Patricks day 🙂 because of nice breathable fabric. I paired it with lightweight off-white sweater or sweatshirt in the evenings. if you noticed that I am missing a smile on my face, its because I took this photo myself with the camera on a tripod and on a timer.
This is another one of the cute dress that I wore on memorial day weekend. I have a whole blog post on this dress. you can read that here.

Summer Outfits
June, July, and August
My favorite color is anything bright color with a white base and floral print for Florida summer.
By June, Its all hot day and night in Florida along with evening thunderstorms or rain. I moved to Florida in the month of June and I thought my car was like an oven when I will enter my car to leave work for lunch. Luckily, I wear a lightweight jacket in summer also only inside office and outside is just another story. Summer is perfect for evening cruise weather and perfect for those who want to have some tan :)!!.
Usually no jacket or cardigan is needed but rain brings down temps little bit. So, for those days a light cardigan/ capelet or button-down shirt comes handy for beach walk or cruise. Besides summer dresses or maxi dresses, shorts, capris or skirts are better choices than jeans and you can pair them with floral tops or shirts.

Floral tulip dress
I wore this dress in summer and it is one of my favorite dress. This tulip dress was featured in St. Pete fashion week. I love this dress designed by my fashion designer sister Sumita Bhojwani. Do check out her clothing line Kalaxpress and shop this dress here.
Cold shoulder dress
You would think by August, temps should drop down a little bit, but there is no relief from hot summer in Florida and August is equally as hot as June or July. But then, the only relief is rain that brings temps down occasionally. I have worn this dress all through summer this year just as it is so airy and lightweight. Pastel florals make it more dreamy looking. Lol!! look at the door, I never knew that this outside red door could really beautify the dress. 😉
I bought this dress from Whitehouse Blackmarket. you can shop this dress here.
Floral summer dress
This photo was taken in Orlando right outside a Chinese place called Kabuki oriental buffet. It’s like “all you can eat buffet”. Their dinner buffet is only 6.99 that starts at 3 pm. click for their map here. Don’t go by their bad reviews, I liked the place. I am not getting paid for ths recommendation :).
Usually, this is how I dress up for dinner in Florida summer as anything else looks too formal or too casual. 🙂 I love this layered dress with peachy pink florals that I got from eBay. 🙂
Cute summer sandals are always a winner !! and flip flops too.

Fall outfits
September, October, and November
My favorite color is orange in fall
When you start feeling just a slight crisp air early in the morning before hot summer day, You can tell rest of the country is in Fall season. Days are still warm to hot and morning temperatures are low 70’s in September and October and low 60’s to 50’s in November. September does not look like fall at all as day temps are around in 80’s and 90’s. Evenings are cooler in October and November for sure and a light fleece jacket for some evenings in October and most part of November is good to carry. Temperatures can go down to 40’s during the night in November. Full sleeves tops are enough for most of the day. I usually wear my light blazers for early morning and evenings. And I start wearing my ankle boots in October and knee-high boots in November. You can still wear sandals throughout fall.
Navy blue blazer
I wore this outfit in September when it had started to get nice weather during daytime with slight crisp air. Navy blue blazer was not needed during the day but I just wanted to style it with an orange shirt. :). Wearing orange during Fall season is my favorite thing, just to remind me that rest of the country is celebrating autumn:). I got this denim from forever 21 many years ago like in 2010:) and this is one of my best denim. The rest of the 11 just rests.
Orange dress
This is my really old dress from Steinmart that has a little stretch to it, so It has been fitting me just fine for last 10 years. The bag is from Furla, shoes from TJmaxx and brand is naturalizer. I wore this in last week of October and it was pleasantly cool.
Burgundy dress
This Burgundy dress from the loft is one of my favorite for cooler weather. I wore this almost at the end of November and paired it with my aerosols knee-high black boots. These boots were on sale for only $20 after Christmas and they fold so easily for travel as well.
Winter outfits
December, January, and February
My favorite color is burgundy and navy blue
Okay, so there are 5 more outfits and I hope I have not bored you with my year-round Florida outfits for four seasons. Winter month is the most unpredictable month with some days really hot in mid 70’s and some days in mid 50’s too. Some mornings, I had woken up to mid 40’s too and that was cold 🙂 but then by midday, it is in mid 70’s. January is usually the coldest month and December and February have kind of similar averages.
I wear my fleece sweatshirts, warm coat, knee-high boots, and definitely layer my clothes as temps are unpredictable. So, layering full sleeve or half sleeve top with a cardigan during the day and with a warm jacket in the evening will keep you warm. Evenings and nights are definitely cooler and a warm fleece outerwear or little heavier jacket is always a good choice. I love wearing midi dresses with boots and scarfs as it’s not too warm during the day. The scarf can still be warm because of the sun so I wear a scarf in the mornings and in the evenings.
A light weight colorful velvet is my favorite fabric for florida winter.

plaid shirt and navy blue pants
I wore these skinny pants from papaya clothing last week of December on my niece birthday. Her birthday was celebrated at a horse farm. she is definitely a fashionista in making. The pants that I am wearing had a lot of stretch to it, so it was like tummy control coming as a bonus. I paired it with my red plaid guess shirt and aerosol black boots.
One of my other christmas look is with light velvet, be it a dress or velvet boots :).
This checker shirt dress is one of my favorite for fall and winter actually because its so lightweight cotton and has long sleeves. It goes very nice with boots and I wore this dress this January with black tights and guess boots. I got this shirt dress from Tommy Hilfiger and I think it’s a classic winter or fall outfit. I am trying to jump in air with my niece and nephew :).
floral midi dress
I love to wear midi dresses in winter time as I can pair them with boots for light winter or wear waist-high tights for a cold wintry day in Florida :). This is one of my favorite dress from Asos and I love wearing it in January or February as it reminds me spring is a couple of months ahead. So, it seems like any dress can be worn throughout the year in Florida and all you have to do is change sandals to ankle boots to knee-high boots. :).

Special mention
Well, this picture does not have good quality but it was taken in January 2012 with my iPhone 3GS by a coworker. she told me that I should take a picture and send to fashion magazines because of the way, I styled it. So, this picture reminds me of the first thought I ever had to pose for sharing with fashion magazines :). Eventually, I sent that picture to ASOS at that time but never followed up on the website.

This is such a helpful post, especially if someone is traveling to Florida in a month other than the summer months and they’re just not sure what the weather is like… I’ve been to Florida in the summer months and then we went one time in October and it was unseasonably cold, which I wasn’t expecting. I love all of these darling outfits, especially those floral capri leggings in the breathable fabric!
